• Kite Festival Sat Apr 21 2012
  April 21, 2012 SunRiver St. George Golf Course 10:00 A.M. – 9:00 P.M. The Festival is held in April and is designed to promote reading as a habit and encourage students to engage in family-oriented physical activity. Qualifying students earn a high-quality kite or age appropriate book for their reading efforts. As an adjunct to the primary mission of the Kite Festival, contributions are made to the Washington County School Foundation for distribution to schools most actively involved in the Kite Festival based on attendance. The Kite Festival provides a wholesome, uplifting, family-oriented event where everyone can participate regardless of experience, training, financial means or physical abilities. There are no fees for parking, shuttle rides, admission, entertainment and fireworks. In addition to kite flying, there are free childrens games and $1 & $2 fees for children’s activities including bouncy toys, small train rides, and other rides. There is plenty of food available at the Festival at reasonable prices. You may bring your own kites to fly in a designated area. There is plenty to do and see for everyone!   The annual report to members of Dixie Escalante Electric will be held on June 6, 2012, for members in the St. George, Washington Fields, Sand Hollow, and Dixie Springs areas. It will be at the Dixie Center Ballroom. A free dinner is served from 5:00 pm to 6:30 pm with the business meeting beginning at 6:00 pm.

• Youth Leadership Challenge Mon Jul 16 2012
  The Utah Rural Electric Association (UREA) Youth Leadership Challenge will be held July 16-20, 2012, at Snow College in Ephriam, Utah. Students are selected to attend the Conference, with a chance to win one of the scholarships available, totaling over 12,000.00. The Youth Leadership Challenge will draw 100 students representing seven electric cooperatives, and one telephone company in four states. The Youth Leadership Challenge is held to acquaint the youth with rural electric cooperatives, but lessons are also taught in politics and government and in self-esteem and self-improvement.
