MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS High School diploma or GED. Required to have a valid Utah Driver’s License and Commercial Driver’s License (CDL). Journeyman Lineman certification. Employee will be required to become a Journeyman Lineman through the Utah Department of Labor, if not acquired before hiring. On-call position; required to carry a company provided cell phone and responsible to trouble call on weekends, holidays, and after hours. A strong knowledge of Microsoft Windows and Office preferred.
Use journeyman-level knowledge of electrical line work to safely construct and maintain electric distribution and transmission lines and substations. Climb poles of all types and perform jobs off the poles, including changing out of arms, transformers, conductors, etc. Respond to power outages and member problems and troubleshoot to restore power in a timely manner. Perform switching procedures on transmission and distribution apparatus when deemed necessary or as directed to facilitate operations. Hook up single-phase and multi-phase transformer connections using the correct configuration to assure end user of proper voltage levels. Locate and mark underground cable routes as requested to allow others to safely dig without service interruption or cable damage. Drive and operate bucket truck, digger, trencher, forklift, and skid loader to frame and set poles, lay wire, tie wire, connect and disconnect services, and tree trimming Responsible for assigned vehicle, equipment, tools, and materials, to be kept clean and in good, safe working condition; also responsible for inspections and mileage reports. Maintain current knowledge of equipment, RUS specifications, OSHA regulations, NEC, NESC, mapping system, company policies and procedures, and other operational and regulatory systems related to the responsibilities of the position. Ensure safety rules are followed in accordance with company policy and APPA safety manual. Direct, guide and train personnel in lower level apprenticeship programs or equivalent. All training shall contain emphasis on safe working practices. Provide appropriate member service as needed through regular direct contact to ensure member satisfaction and on-going communication. Other duties as assigned. PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT Position requires field work in an electrical environment and is regularly exposed to inclement weather conditions and risk of electrical hazards from Littlefield AZ to Fillmore UT.
