To help educate our members and bring awareness to our community about electric vehicles, Dixie Power has purchased two Tesla Model 3 EV’s. Both cars can be loaned out by Dixie Power members for a week at a time, to drive free of charge and without mileage restrictions. The EV loaner program provides members the chance to see how an EV works as their daily vehicle, and think about whether planning an electric vehicle purchase in their future makes sense.
For some, EV adoption is about eliminating tailpipe emissions and contributing to cleaner air. For others, EVs are an attractive option due to state and federal tax rebates up to $12,500, as well as the cost savings on maintenance since EVs do not require oil changes and other routine maintenance visits. The retail cost of EVs has come down over the last 10 years, and all of those cost savings to purchase and maintain electric vehicles have led to over 500,000 EV purchases in the last 10 years, in the USA.
